"All the unmarried men gathered in the temple and prayed to the Lord with the priests, seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit. The high priest, inspired by God, instructed each young man to take a dry staff and pray with faith for a sign of the one chosen to be Mary’s spouse."
Joseph, humble and upright, felt unworthy of such an honor, having vowed chastity and surrendered himself to God’s will. Yet, as they prayed, his staff miraculously blossomed, and a radiant white dove descended upon his head. In his heart, God spoke:
"Joseph, my servant, Mary shall be your spouse. Accept her with reverence, for she is pure in soul and body. Do as she tells you."
At this divine sign, the priests declared Joseph as Mary’s chosen spouse. As she stepped forward, her presence shone like the sun—full of grace, beauty, and holiness. Thus, the most chaste Saint Joseph was united with the Blessed Virgin, fulfilling God’s will.
Let us honor Saint Joseph, the faithful protector of the Holy Family, on this solemn feast.
